HYDRAULIC FITTINGS
JIC FITTINGS
JIC (or Joint Industry Council) fittings, defined by SAE J514, are compression fittings machined with a 37 degree flare seating surface and parallel threads. They are commonly manufactured in nickel alloys, brass, carbon & stainless steel. JIC Fitting hydraulic connections are common in most fluid power systems. Both male and female components have 37 degree seats. The seal is made by establishing contact between the male flared and the female coned seat. This is considered a mechanical connection. There are three components that make a tubing assembly; fitting, flare nut and sleeve.
NPT FITTINGS
American National Standard Pipe Thread standards, often called national pipe thread standards for short, are US national technical standards for screw threads used on threaded pipes and pipe fittings. They include both tapered and straight thread series for various purposes including rigidity, pressure-tight sealing, or both.
API THREAD
American Petroleum Institute approved extended male thread.
O-RING FACE SEAL
ORFS offers excellent leak protection. The male fitting has a straight thread and O-ring in the face. The female has a straight thread and a machined flat face. The seal takes places by compressing the O-ring onto the flat face of the female, similar to a split flange fitting. The threads hold the connection mechanically.
O-RING BOSS
SAE O-ring boss fittings use straight thread and an O-ring (of either Buna N or Viton material, depending on the type of hydraulic fluid) to create a seal between the male and female fitting. Compression of the male fitting O-ring into the female chamfer cone seat creates a strong leak proof connection. SAE ORB adapter fittings are an excellent choice for medium and high pressure applications.
FLANGE FITTINGS
SAE Flanges is a range of high pressure hydraulic flange which is made in accordance to SAE J518 standards. The acronym SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. These flanges are used on oil hydraulic systems in many fields (shipbuilding, mobile hydraulic equipment, machine tools, earth moving machines, etc… ) and where there is passage of oil under pressure.
SAE FITTINGS
SAE is Society of Automotive engineers. These fittings are commonly used in refrigeration, automotive and low pressure applications. SAE male has 45° flare which seals against 45° seat in female. Male can also seal against 45° flared tubing with nut and sleeve. 7/16 - 20, 1/2 - 20, 3/4 - 16 & 7/8 - 14 are the same thread form as JIC 37° flare. some fittings in these sizes have both JIC 37° & SAE 45° seats.

JIS FITTINGS
The Japanese Industrial Standard fitting 30° is similar to the SAE 37° flare connection. However, the flare angle and dimensions are different. The threads are similar to BSPP.
BSP FITTINGS
British Standard Pipe fittings and connectors are available in two versions, with parallel threads (BSPP) or tapered threads (BSPT).
